Looking for tile ideas for a conservatory?
This month’s “Through the Keyhole” transports us to a tiling project in the orangery-style extension of a large detached house in South Lanarkshire.
Adio Marini had been meaning to do something with his lean-to conservatory for a while and when he knocked it down there was the chance to build something really special. He had plans drawn up for an “orangery” – a spacious conservatory that opens out onto the garden – and ended up with a really spectacular new living space.
Adio tells us more: “Once I’d knocked the old lean-to down I had to plan what would take its place. It’s called an orangery because of the way it has been designed, the look of it really. I still think of it as a conservatory though.”
Where did the tiling ideas for the conservatory come from?
When it came to the interior design Adio knew exactly where to go for tiles and for tiling inspiration: “I was really impressed with the range at Cosmo. I called Paul Verrico (Sales Director) who came over and we talked about what I was after. He showed me a range of samples at the showroom and we settled on the Elios Wood range quite quickly. Once I’d seen them I knew that they were right and Paul and the Cosmo team did the rest.”
What was it about the Elios Wood Acero tiles that made them the best tiles for the conservatory floor?
The clean lines and polished edges of the Elios Wood Acero floor tiles give a modern look to the room and the light grey really captures the natural light that floods in from above.
Why were grey floor tiles chosen?
The choice of tiles enhanced the contemporary feel and offered good value for money according to Adio: “The light grey tiles really fitted in with the design that we were going for. They were a great price too!”
Two years later and Adio is still delighted with the job: “Cosmo Tiles has got a really good reputation so I knew I was in safe hands. I’ve been very happy with the job and I’d recommend Cosmo to anyone. Great service and a great range.”
