Why did John Amabile use Recer Infinity range of tiles for one of his most recent projects?

Top interior designer John Amabile from Better Homes, 60 Minute Makeover and The Hour has recently been working on a redesign of Anglers Bar in Annan using tiles supplied by Cosmo Tiles.

The project involved giving an old local anglers club a complete makeover to modernise and breathe life back into a traditional building. A key part of the development was John Amabile’s choice of Recer Infinity tiles laid out in a chequerboard pattern for the floor tiling. Recer Infinity tiles were also used in the washrooms to tile the floors and walls.

We spoke to Laura McGimpsey, one of the owners of the bar to find out a bit more…

How did you get involved with the refurbishment of The Anglers Bar?

“My Brother Sean McGimpsey and another businessman from Annan, James Lupton, bought the building when the original Anglers Club went into liquidation.  They were both members of the club which had been in Annan for years. It is a traditional building but we have done it all up and it looks quite modern now with a function suite, lounge bar and sports bar.”

Was it a big refurbishment project?

“It was a complete refurbishment.  Everything in the building is brand new and there were a few internal walls knocked down to facilitate the round bar.  I would definitely say it was a ‘big’ refurb!”

Where did the inspiration come for your tiling ideas?

“I was introduced to John Amabile through a mutual friend and he did some interior work on my own house and he knows just what he is doing so I thought it would be ideal to get John involved to bring it all together.  He has vision that none of us would have had! We left the choice of the tiles to John.  We didn’t want top of the range from a cost perspective – something nice but not too expensive as we had a big area to cover.”
